Amazon.co.uk Review So how do you turn the idea at the back of your mind into an Internet success? In The Internet Entrepreneurs, Chris Price reports on 13 key individuals from 12 top Internet companies with the aim of discovering what these people have done in order to succeed. In particular he is interested in how they have each broken some key rules of business, but survived. In fact, breaking rules happens to have been a central business decision in many cases and one that marked a turning point in the development of each company. For example, Bob Davis of the search engine Lycos broke the rules by walking away from a multi million dollar merger--he later made a better deal with another company. Jim Barksdale of Netscape broke the rules by giving the Netscape Web browser away, rather than selling it, in order to open up new markets. Jeff Bezos built Amazon into a known and respected online bookseller before committing the cardinal sin of muddying the brand by expanding to sell other goods.Price writes in an easy style combining his own thoughts with quotes from his chosen entrepreneurs. He gives readers a chance to draw their own conclusions as well as to learn from his experience as an IT journalist who has seen the good and the bad of the IT industry at close quarters. The Internet Entrepreneurs is required reading for the would-be Internet business leader looking for guidance on how to marry traditional business strategy with personal flair and intuition. --Sandra Vogel
