Great Little Phone August 11, 2009 Dim Tim (Wolverhampton) 34 out of 34 found this review helpful
I have had this phone on contract for about 2 months now and all I can say is how much i love it. After owning various bulky phones that did everything but wash up (most of which features I rarely used), I decided this time I just wanted something to phone and text with, which looked good and didn't leave a massive bulge in my pocket. This phone certainly is nice to look at (I have the all black version which to me looks nicer than the chrome). It is small and slim so fits easily into my pockets. It is also very well made. It has a metal/hard plastic body that feel reassurringly heavy and should resist most of the knocks life throws at these things. The screen is bright and clear and automatically adjust to the ambient light levels. I should emphasise that this isn't the phone for the techies amongst you. It does have GPS and, if you have the contract to support it, A-GPS with navigation. Without A-GPS it can take 10 minutes to find your location. There are some fairly standard music and media players apps built in but I have an IPod for that sort of thing that works better than most phones. It doesn't have wi-fi but is a 3.5G phone but since I don't have a contract which includes a data tariff, I dont use that and so can't comment on how good the browser is. There is a nice 5MP camera but I have an 8MP so won't use that a lot either. In short, a nice looking, compact phone that will suit those of use who like using phones as phones.
Fabulous upgrade July 11, 2009 Je Whitehead 38 out of 40 found this review helpful
As a recent owner of this, upgrading from my 6300 which I love, I'm so pleased I waited for the release of this phone.
The display does go into sleep quickly, which I think is a little odd to be fair, but not an inconvenience at all.
The display, sound and user menus are really quite excellent. Trouble is, as it's all chrome, I keep wiping my dirty fingerprints off the case. More a problem with my hands than the phone though.
Sitting side by side with my 6300 I can say that the keys on the 6700 are actually larger than the 6300. They are a different design, not being separate keys, but that's a case of getting used to it I suspect.
It's a great phone that does what a phone is supposed to do.
Great piece of kit May 12, 2010 blueschyler (London U.K) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
For some time now I've been wanting to upgrade my Nokia 6300 with this latest version and was put off by a review from Stephen Sweeney titled `Essential features cut' in AMAZON. He appeared to be quite technically specific so when he referred to the phone as not having essential (and I quote) `no way for you to see whether you have missed calls or received texts. There is nothing - not even the thin strip of information that previous phones such as the N6500 Classic has. The ONLY way to find out if you have a missed call, etc. is to pick the phone back up and press the keys. I am stunned that such an essential and time saving feature has been removed! Annoyingly, it is impossible to configure how long the screen remains lit and it is also not possible to set any other features of the display. Why on Earth it is like this, I do not know". I thought I'd pay attention and steer clear of this phone.
After persevering with my old 6300 long enough, and with nothing else on the market, I decided to stick with tried and trusted Nokia and buy this phone which I did through an Amazon market place seller.
I'm guessing what Stephen means is that if the phone's display is black you don't get the flashing light feature of the Nokia 6300 to know you have text or missed phone call, but how hard is it to press a key to see if the screen shows a text or missed call? My phone is on or near me constantly and the ring tone settings allow the ring or text alert to be heard easily, and very loudly if desired. If you have to put your phone on silent or be away from it for a short time, wouldn't you check it out of habit? Yes, I miss the blue flashing on the 6300 but not so much to lose a star for the 6700.
While Stephen is correct about not being able to configure how quickly the display goes into sleep mode, you can absolutely change other feathers in the display to suit your personal needs.
Other reviews mentioned calls cutting out part way through, and not switching on at all. I've never experienced any of these issues. One reviewer here even got antsy with it not having a touch screen, but it never purported to do so?
In all, I'm really pleased with the Nokia 6700, and only sorry I waited so long to upgrade my 6300. It's feels solid to hold, though it is small and thin, the keys are very responsive, large bright screen, and good battery life. It's a stylish bit of kit with all the bells and whistles I would expect from a mobile phone in 2010.
Classic Nokia with polish December 27, 2009 Andrea Smith (London, UK) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I bought this phone about 6 months ago after the disaster that was the Nokia 5800 Xpress music touch screen phone, and I am pleased to report that this little beauty has restored my faith in Nokia. If you're not looking for an all-singing and dancing mobile, and just want one that can a) make calls b) send the odd text / picture message and c) look pretty, this is the phone for you. It's a classic Nokia but not as dull as their more basic models. The chunkier of thumb may find the small keypad tricky but that aside, Nokia have excelled with this one! I don't think you'll be disappointed.
A Phone Phone! no touch screen or crashing. a Phone! February 8, 2010 Y. Chan (London, UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Hadn't used a Nokia for years until I picked this up in the shops. It is well heavy for what you see. a weight that spelt " quality". music is good but not great, I think iPod still has the edge over this. But the Maps are soooo cool. you can download any map for use. I tried it out in Italy. Never been so I downloaded the maps, and when I got out there, it just worked. No messing No hassle. plus I could make calls and use the calculator. Just a great all round phone phone.
Oh and very sexy to hold! oooo err.
